Sports equipment for a rural secondary school in Nepal

Ref:  197.00

Where is this project needed?

Chitwan, Nepal

Who needs help with this?

Laxmi Secondary School, Jagatpur, Chitwan

How will my support help?

Rural government schools in Nepal are often severely under funded and in many cases do not have the funds to provide sports facilities or equipment. Extra curricular activities are essential for a child to receive a balanced education. Sports activities can play an important role in developing a child's confidence, teaching the importance of working as a team and providing a welcome break and incentive for children to attend school. Your support with this project will provide a whole school of children with access to equipment needed to take part in a wide range of popular sports in Nepal.

Cost Breakdown
All items are bought in Nepal; to reduce costs and to support the local economy. All costs are therefore given in Nepalese Rupees. JustAid is currently using an exchange rate of £1 = 120 Nepalese Rupees. This rate is slightly lower than the Banks because it allows for fluctuation in the rates

"The total well being of children should be at the core of education. Children who are both mentally and physically in good shape, and thus healthy and motivated in life, are also likely to learn more and make better use of their learning." (UNESCO, Senegal Conference, July 2001)
